Nutrition Talk – Ironman Affiliation – Bartt #5 and Social – Club Champs results - Steady Rides and Sunday Rides

Great result for Dan Anderton last weekend at ETU Herning Middle Distance champs with a 6th Place in 4hrs 24 in a strong field. Good luck to those of you racing at Kitzbuhel ETU Standard distance this weekend. And to Scott Waddell and Steve Smith (and support crew) that will be taking on the Celtman long distance tri tomorrow in Scotland – good luck and hope the weather forecast improves boys! And final mention in the “extreme” category goes to Sean Nicolle doing the Otillo Swim Run race in the Scilly Isles – significantly better weather forecast than Western Scotland!

Nutrition Talk – Tuesday Evening, 7.30 pm@ Oxsrad

Nathan has arranged for Gareth Nicholas from Platform Nutrition to present a session on the fundamentals of triathlon nutrition. The presentation will include the basics of how to tailor your nutrition strategy to support you, your training and racing. Gareth has worked in triathlon nutrition for over 10 years and has worked with a number of athletes from beginners to the Olympic elite.
Gareth has also participated in a number of events from the sprint distance to Ironman. So not only will the session include the theory but more important the practical application of nutrition.

Ironman Affiliation

Ironman have introduced a club affiliation program which allows IM competitors to select their club as part of their personal profile. If you have an Ironman profile you should now be able to select Oxford Tri as your club and as well as earning IM points for yourself, the club will also accrue club points that go towards a club championship.

Club Champs Results – Blenheim and Cotswold 113

The two week window to enter your Club Champ results for Blenheim and Cotswold 113 is almost up. Make sure they’re entered by this weekend as we will be running an update of the Championships totaliser soon. Any other previous missing results – you might be able to get away with entering them now as well – before it’s too late! It’s pretty straightforward – click on the “Your Details” tab on the website and then “Add Result”.

Steady Ride Series and Sunday Rides

Starting this Sunday we will run a series of Steady Rides. These are designed for anyone that is perhaps less confident with group riding or are returning to cycling fitness. Rides will typically be 25 to 35 miles, at a steady pace to suit everyone with no one left behind. Nick Twist will lead the first ride in the series this Sunday – normal meet-up and depart from Oxsrad at 9.15.

And Tracy will lead an Intermediate 2 ride, typically around 15mph and perhaps 40 – 50 miles – but watch out on FB for ride details from Tracy.

As ever, for all rides, be sure to bring spare tubes, basic tools, pump, gels/food and plenty to drink.

Normal depart from Oxsrad at 9.15 am. Looking to be very warm and sunny with no wind.
