220 Triathlon Awards – Spin Session booking – 2XU Compression presentation – Confidence and Intensity Masterclass – Swim Bookings – Cotswold Classic - Sunday Rides

Congratulations to everyone that ran Silverstone Half last Sunday – looks like there was a strong Oxford Tri contingent! And to Anna Smithson for her age group second place and possible ITU qualification at Bedford Sprint Duathlon.

Also great news from Germany – for those of you who know Roland and Christine – please welcome Valentin Jacob into the world. Congratulations to you all!

220 Triathlon Awards – voting closes TODAY

Today is the final chance for Auntie Ethel to vote for Oxford Tri and win herself Jonny Brownlee’s sweaty old trisuit......! So if you (or your Auntie Ethel) still haven’t voted then you’ve got a few hours left – remember – Club of the Year AND Event of the Year (less than 500 entries).

Spin Classes – from 29th March

The first of Nick Twist’s spin sessions on the 29th March is now available for booking here: https://oxfordtri.co.uk/events/spinning-session

2XU Compression clothing presentation – Saturday 25th March

Chris has arranged for Neil Davidson from 2XU (our kit supplier and compression garment specialists) to make a presentation on the benefits of compression clothing to training and recovery. As you may be aware compression clothing and its benefits are equally promoted and disputed so this should be an interesting presentation from a suppliers perspective and plenty of opportunity to counter and to try on garments no doubt!

Booking not required but details here: https://oxfordtri.co.uk/events/2xu-compression-wear-presentation

Confidence and Intensity in Triathlon Masterclass – 8th April

Alain Torri continues his series of mental training talks with a presentation on Confidence and Intensity in Triathlon on Saturday 8th April at 3.30 pm at Oxsrad.

There will be one final talk, “Focus, Emotions and Pain in Triathlon” date and time to be confirmed.

Sign-up for 8th April here: https://oxfordtri.co.uk/events/confidence-and-intensity-triathlon-masterclass

Swim session bookings

It’s disappointing to see both Headington and Kidlington swim session coaches having to again mention that, despite long waiting lists, places are going un-used due to last minute cancellations and no shows. I will repeat the mantra for the last time – Please don’t book speculatively. If your plans change or you feel ill then please do your very best to cancel as early as possible and preferably well before the day of the session. As it seems this keeps occurring we will now discuss this with the committee and coaches to see if we need to put new rules in place and start recording regular cancellers.

Cotswold Classic – August

If you have signed up and paid for an entry to the Cotswold Classic half distance Tri in August through the club, you should have now received an entry code from Liz Merrett by email. You now need to make your entry through the event website using that code to complete your entry. Thanks to Liz for sorting!

Sunday Rides

This Sunday we have Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 rides going out – with Dana (Intermediate 1) and James (Intermediate 2). It is looking like it will be windy with Gales coming in around midday at the moment. Your leaders will be keeping an eye on the forecast and will avoid being out in the worst of the wind so rides may be shortened or modified at short notice. As usual keep an eye on FB for updates and as ever it is your responsibility to decide if conditions are safe for you – this is not your leaders call.

Meet at Oxsrad as usual ready to leave for 9.15am. For guidance on speeds of rides see https://oxfordtri.co.uk/events/sunday-club-rides-41

Have a great week and good luck to anyone running at Reading Half or racing elsewhere!
