Sprint Tri and Cake Stand Volunteers - Club Champs Relay Tri – Annual Awards Dinner – BaRTT # 9 Entry Open - Sunday Rides

Sprint Tri and Cake Stand Volunteers

With just over a week to go until our own Sprint Tri on bank holiday Monday we are doing well with entries – less than 25 places left and also with volunteers – over 20 in place – Thank you. Medals have arrived and trophies and prizes due soon!

We’d love to sell out though – so please do continue to mention our event to anyone that might cave under sustained pressure (you know they’ll love it!)

And Tracy could still do with a few more volunteers to help run the event safely so if you’re around and not racing then please try and sign up to volunteer. You’ll get a coffee and cake, a club champs point and there might even be a Peroni or two floating around afterwards!

We’d also love to run a cake and coffee stand again this year so could do with a couple of volunteers to man this. We’ll put out a call to members for cakes – so don’t worry if you’re not Mary Berry. Please contact Tracy – captain [at] oxfordtri [dot] co [dot] uk.

Club Champs Relay and BBQ

We’ve got 10 teams in place for tomorrow’s Sprint Relay at Queenford lake. I’ll be sending out a brief race detail email later today so watch out for that if you’re entered but race format should be nice and simple and relaxed. Main point to note is that we will have a race briefing at 9.30 AM with first swimmers off at 9.45 prompt. We must be clear of the lake by 10.30 so an on-time start is critical. Forecast is looking good for tomorrow.

The bbq will start as soon as the last team finishes and we expect this to be around 1.30pm. We will be charging for burgers, beers and soft drinks with any profit going back to cover the event. There is a sign-up for the bbq – anyone is welcome and sign-up is not compulsory but would be very helpful for us to gauge numbers. For the sake of numbers we will assume all racers are coming to the bbq so you only need to sign-up if you’re NOT racing or if you’re bringing a guest. If you’re bringing all 50 members of your extended family perhaps drop me an email...!

Annual Awards Dinner

Maite has advance planning well underway for our annual Awards Dinner (Friday 27th October at the Hawkwell House Hotel, Iffley) but she would love to hear from you if you could help out with final planning and preparation. She will be looking for help on the day with set-up and in advance helping with raffle prizes, trophies, ticket sales etc etc so please do email her if you can help out. social [at] oxfordtri [dot] co [dot] uk

BaRTT # 9

Entry is now open for BaRTT #9. This is the final regular BaRTT of the season with only the handicap final to come a fortnight later. If you are hoping to take part in the handicap you really need to have taken part in at least one regular BaRTT during the season so perhaps this is your final chance...!

Sunday Rides

We are not putting out any club organised rides this Sunday because of the Club Relay at Queenford. If you want to ride feel free to post in the FB group or turn up at Oxsrad and make a plan.

It was great to see such a strong club contingent at Cotswold Classic last weekend with several members racing at half distance for the first time. Plenty of great results but Dan Anderton smashed out a fantastic 7th overall in 4 hrs 14 and Rob Pettingell took 1st place in the 50+ category. And meanwhile at Eton Dorney, Liz Merrett was lifting the silverware with a 5th lady overall and 1st in age group!

And good luck to Anna Smithson, racing today in Penticton, Canada at the ITU World Championship multisport festival, racing in the sprint duathlon, her debut GBR appearance – SMASH IT!

See you at Queenford tomorrow!
