Sprint Tri – Final BaRTT and BBQ - England Athletics Affiliation – Awards Dinner tickets - Sunday Rides
Really just a massive thank you to all the volunteers at Monday’s Sprint Tri. You made the day for the club but in particular for the competitors – many of whom are new to the sport. And especial thanks to Tracy for putting it all together – not just on the day but through months of preparation – a great day for the club and for triathlon in Oxford!
Many of you were racing as well and it was great to see so many Oxford Tri trisuits out there doing their stuff! Home club pride was taken care of by Harriet Teare and Sam Bird who each took 2nd overall in Female and Male respectively (we know you let them win!).
We think the day went pretty well but we know there were some niggles here and there. If you were racing, volunteering or spectating and experienced something that perhaps could work better then do let Tracy or me know. We do our best to improve the event year on year so feedback is critical for us.
Final BaRTT and BBQ
Entry is open for the final BaRTT of the season next Tuesday evening. This is the season finale handicap final. Anyone can enter but priority goes to anyone that has raced a BaRTT this season. Using a cunning scientific algorithm which I haven’t worked out yet we will set everyone off at intervals based on their times throughout the season that should have everyone finishing at the same time (volunteer timekeepers – what not to like!). So while no racing allowed on the bike, it’s every man and woman for themselves on the final run! And weather permitting, Sax will be running a bbq for us again afterwards at Oxsrad, from 8pm all welcome – but please sign-up.
We’re a little late in the season and daylight might be an issue. Working front and rear lights are compulsory and we will be starting a little earlier at 6.30 pm (briefing at 6.20). There will be no Headington Hill run this Tuesday.

England Athletics Affiliation
As per a recent email from Dan Anderton, Oxford Tri is now affiliated with England Athletics. One of the key benefits it that when registering for running events you can select Oxford Tri as your club and get England Athletics discounted entry rates. You do however have to first register with EA and this is £16 per year – you can join through the link on our webpage below.

Awards Dinner tickets
We are about to open ticket sales for the Annual Club Awards Dinner. This will be at the Hawkwell House Hotel in Iffley on Friday 27th October. This is always a popular event and normally sells out so be ready! Maite will send an email to all members with details soon, but guests are welcome and she will be in touch about arranging tables (but don’t worry if you’re new – you will be looked after!) and drinks packages.
We will also be starting to think about awards so time to think who you might nominate. Categories are: Male and Female Athlete of the year, Most improved Male and Female Athlete and Club Member of the Year. We’d like to put forward a bit more information about nominations this year so please do think carefully who might be good candidates and some reasons why.
This Sunday Tracy will lead an Intermediate 2 ride – should be a good one for anyone that has recently been riding Steady and wants to step up (especially as Tracy will have done a 100 mile TT on Saturday!) and Dana will lead a faster Intermediate 1 ride.
So far the forecast is good with rain not likely until late afternoon. Details of rides on the Face Book group soon.
Good luck to everyone racing at Reading Olympic and Sprint this weekend – not many more club champs events left now.....!
