Eynsham Duathlon – Monday Headington swim  – Sunday rides

It was great to see so many members (new and old) at the track last night despite it being comfortably below freezing. Thanks to Nick Twist for a great session – I think the busiest I’ve ever seen it!

And many of you will know that our pool sessions are now all very busy – my normal word of caution to everyone on swim session booking etiquette – please do not speculatively book your swim and then decide on the day if you can make it. That often does not leave enough time for people on the wait list to get to the session with the result that places go unused. We accept that sometimes we all get busy, ill etc but we are now seeing 10 or more cancellations at Headington on the day of the swim – and this is not acceptable. Your coaches are now starting to look out for regular cancellers.....

Eynsham Duathlon

We are happy to announce that after a one year absence Oxford Tri will be running the popular Spring Duathlon in Eynsham this year. This will be held on Sunday 26th March at 9.30 am. Entry is now open (£7.50) and race format will be identical to previous years – 4.4k run (two laps) through Eynsham followed by flat and fast 19k bike out to Standlake followed by one more 2.1k run lap around Eynsham. This is an open event so if you have friends or links with other clubs – let them know – all welcome.

As usual – we will need volunteers to let us run the event safely and efficiently. Please do consider helping out if you’re not racing – or perhaps twist a friend’s arm if you’re racing! More details from Tracy Makin – captain [at] oxfordtri [dot] co [dot] uk or entry and full details here: https://oxfordtri.co.uk/eynsham-duathlon

Headington Swim – possible cancellation this Monday

Headington School have advised us that they have a faulty fan extraction system which has forced them to close the pool. It is very likely that this will NOT be fixed by Monday evening’s swim session in which case we will have to cancel the session. We will leave the decision to cancel the session as late as possible in case it can be fixed – but please watch out for announcements on Facebook. We will cancel it formally on the calendar – so check here before travelling: https://oxfordtri.co.uk/events/headington-school-swim-112

Sunday Rides

This Sunday we have Dana and James down to lead Intermediate 1 and 2 rides. Currently the forecast is looking as though it will still be very cold – below or around zero degrees with not much prospect of a warm up during the morning. Keep an eye on Facebook for updates, and as usual it is your own responsibility, not your leaders or the club, to decide if conditions are safe for you to ride or not.

Normal time at Oxsrad – 9.15.

Steady Rides

And another reminder that Bernard Calnan will be leading a Steady Ride in 1 week’s time – Sunday 29th Jan. Bernard has asked me to mention that there WILL be a coffee stop mid ride!
