30th Anniversary Celebrations/Club Relay – Club Champs - Swim Safety Officer Volunteering - Sunday Rides
Congratulations to everyone who raced last weekend at Blenheim. There were some great results including a few age group places. There were also some fantastic performances by all the Weekend Warriors, with a special mention to Matthew Capstick for completing a total of eight races over the weekend… a large increase on his previous tally of one triathlon!
30th Anniversary Celebrations/Club Relay
The club turns 30 this year so to celebrate we are going to hold a celebration BBQ after the club relay at Queenford Lake on 12th August.
If you didn't take part last year or are new to the club the format for the race is quite simple and was great fun. In teams of three (selected to be as evenly matched as possible) your first team member will complete the swim and then tag the next team member who will then swim and in turn tag the last team member who then swims. They will then tag the first team member who starts the bike leg and so on. First team home wins and there are Club Champs points up for grabs!
This will be followed by a BBQ open to competitors and spectators.
As it is our 30th anniversary this will be an optional 80s themed event. This could range from full on 80’s racing kit to a nod to the 80s with some neon leg warmers!
More details of the race and of how to register and submit times to follow but save the date in your diaries!
With the race season now in full swing just a reminder that you need to log your results for them to count towards championship points - https://oxfordtri.co.uk/club-championship-2018
Swim Safety Officer Volunteering
Just a reminder that our open water swim sessions can only go ahead with volunteer Swim Safety Officers and we need 2 of these per session. If everyone who swims regularly volunteers twice in the season, and those who swim occasionally volunteers once, then we will have enough. Please see the calendar for volunteer signup. Volunteers are still needed for next Thursday and Saturday.
Once again lots of club members are racing this weekend so we only have one planned ride, Intermediate led by Nick Twist, look out for details on Facebook. If you do fancy something steadier or faster don’t let this put you off riding, feel free to share a route on Facebook and see if anyone wants to join you.
As usual rides leave Oxsrad at 9.15.
Good luck to all of you racing at the Cotswold 113 this weekend!
